What are your credentials?
We train with the best. Fewer than ten percent of the U.S. design industry hold professional designations, according to CID’s president, Ron Renner. Carman Hafer earned her C.I.D, Certified Interior Decorator designation by completing 200 hours of advanced studies in decorating. According to Décor & You national training manager, Linda Gottlieb, graduates master the principles of lighting, color, texture, pattern, scale and balance, and learn from a team of design industry pros, such as renowned British interior designer and author of 40 design books, Mary Gilliatt.
We offer full service interior home, room design and decorating services which include color schemes, floor/space plans, selection of custom window treatments, furniture and accessories and full execution of spaces and projects.
How do you charge for your services?
We offer full-service interior decorating by the project, and also offer design consultation by the hour.
For complete room projects, we offer multiple designs to enhance or completely update existing spaces. Access to over 300 national and international vendors allows us to take a client’s project from planning to installation. We can work with clients in stages to coincide with a client’s budgetary needs. Full project design is an excellent option for someone who wants someone to design, manage and install the entire project. In this scenario, an initial consultation fee of $150 is collected. This includes two hours of on site consulting and complete project analysis. Once a client agrees to proceed with the process, a good faith deposit is collected based upon 10% of the overall project proposed.
We offer full service interior decorating services which include color consultations, floor/space plans, custom window treatments, furniture recommendations and custom fabric selections, flooring, bedding, art and accessory purchase and placement.
Do you provide references and referrals?
We can provide a list of client referrals as part of our mutual interviewing process.
Additionally, we offer contractor referrals for handyman services, painting, electrical and carpentry to our clients.
Do you specialize in residential or commercial work?
We work on both residential and commercial projects.
How long does it take to decorate a space?
Depending on how quickly clients make decisions. timeframes for projects vary.
Custom window treatments usually take 8-12 weeks from the first appointment to installation. Full or partial room design which includes furniture can take about 4 months.
The entire process includes multiple design choices and options, usually two, in-home visits, placing orders, fabrication and project oversight and management, and then finally installation of the new look in your space. Keep in mind that selections are custom designed and manufactured uniquely for each client rather than for the masses. Careful preparation and planning makes for happier clients for many years into the future.
Do I have to buy everything from you?
Absolutely not. It is best that these decisions are agreed upon in the initial meetings between client and Décor designer.
We work with over 300 manufacturers many of which work exclusively through the design trade. In the case of larger manufacturers, our products are priced similarly with the prices of retail stores that carry merchandise of comparable quality.

At Décor & You it is important that each room we create reflects the spirit of its owner. Whether a client wants casual or formal, traditional or contemporary, we can design a look that is comfortable and unique to them.
